Before You Begin
Plan Ahead for Your Prerequisites
Nutrition minors require several lower-division courses that should be completed or planned for early in your academic career.
Minimum prerequisite courses
- General Chemistry: CHE 2A and 2B
- Organic Chemistry: CHE 8A and 8B or CHE 118A and 118B
- Biology: BIS 2A or BIO 2
Plan your prerequisite courses in advance to make room for the required upper-division coursework in your minor.

Important Course Planning Note
If your major requires the same biochemistry or physiology course as your nutrition minor, only one of those courses may count toward both programs. Each minor includes approved replacement courses that can be used to meet the minimum unit requirement.
We strongly recommend planning your minor early and meeting with an advisor to make sure your coursework fits your academic plan.
