The UC Davis Human Lactation Center aims to support workforce development in International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants throughout the state of California. The Center also aims to foster communication and collaboration among faculty and other professionals interested in human lactation research.

Originally established in 1987 as the Program in International Nutrition and officially designated as an Organized Research Unit in 1995, the Institute has served as a global leader in human nutrition research for more than 30 years.

Western Human Nutrition Research Center
Located on the University of California, Davis campus in the agricultural Central Valley, much of the WHNRC's research investigates whether and how foods and food constituents prevent obesity and chronic disease.
