Nutrition Updates: Exploring the Science Behind the New Dietary Guidelines

The Department of Nutrition is hosting a virtual chat conversation with Ty Beal, Ph.D., Senior Technical Specialist and global nutrition scientist at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and alum of the University of California, Davis, and Ameer Taha, professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology, on April 24 from 12–1 p.m.
Both served as Scientific Review Authors for the “Scientific Foundation for the Dietary Guidelines for Americans." Join us as they reflect on their experience serving on the committee, share highlights from their research, and offer insights gained throughout the process.
- Dr. Gerardo Mackenzie is Professor and Nutrition Department Chair, Nutritionist in AES and the Corinne L. Rustici Endowed Chair in Human Nutrition.
- Dr. Ty Beal is a Senior Technical Specialist and global nutrition scientist at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).
- Dr. Ameer Taha is the Professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology.
