If you are planning to transfer to UC Davis as a Clinical Nutrition or Nutrition Science major, we recommend that you complete the preparatory science coursework before transferring.
California Community College students can find their equivalent coursework on ASSIST (the official transfer and articulation system for California’s public colleges and universities).
The preparatory science coursework in our nutrition majors are:
1 Year of General Chemistry with Labs—UC Davis courses CHE 2A, 2B, 2C
These courses are equivalent to the first year of general chemistry required for a B.S. in Biological Sciences. They are typically taken the first year.
1 Year of Biological Sciences with Labs— UC Davis courses BIS 2A, 2B, 2C
These courses are equivalent to the first year of biology required for a B.S. in Biological Sciences. They are typically taken the first or second year. If students are unable to complete the entire year before transferring, they should focus on completing at least the cellular biology portion of the series.
1 Semester to 1 Year of Organic Chemistry with Labs— UC Davis courses CHE 8A, 8B or CHE 118A, 118B
These courses are equivalent to the organic chemistry required for a B.S. in Biological Sciences. They are typically taken during the second year.
