The Department of Nutrition also offers three minor programs to students in other disciplines who wish to complement their study program with a concentration in the area of food and nutrition. The minor programs available are: Community Nutrition, Nutrition Science, and Nutrition and Food. The minimum prerequisite, lower-division courses for our nutrition minors are general chemistry (CHE 2A, 2B), organic chemistry (CHE 8A, 8B, or CHE 118A, 118B), and BIS 2A.
Note: If the student’s major program requires the same course in biochemistry and physiology, only one of the courses may duplicate credit toward the minor. Each program below lists replacement courses to fulfill the minimum unit requirement.
