UCD Nutrition Department recruiting for Assistant Professor of Nutrition Science and Metabolic Regulation

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, at the University of California announces an Assistant Professor faculty position (9-month in the Department of Nutrition). Responsibilities:

The Department of Nutrition is seeking applicants with a strong focus on regulation of human metabolism, identifying sources of variability, and precision nutrition for health. The appointee is expected to establish a competitively extramural funded research program to address critical or emerging issues in cellular signaling and regulation of metabolic pathways using animal or in vitro models, or clinical trials, and effectively utilizing multiomic data sets. The appointee is expected to possess a strong nutrition science background with disciplinary expertise in metabolism, innovative biochemistry approaches, and in applying systems biology and data analytic tools to understanding metabolism and responses to foods, food components and diet patterns. The appointee will be responsible for teaching two to three undergraduate and graduate courses each year, contribute to curricular development, and provide undergraduate and graduate student advising and mentoring. The appointee will teach an undergraduate course on Metabolic Regulation for Precision Health (NUT 198) and the required graduate course Advanced Nutrition III: Nutrition in Health and Disease (NUB 210C), and contribute to other course modules as appropriate. Participation in and development of outreach/engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected. This position is expected to collaborate with extension educators and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nutrition or closely related field (degree must be awarded by start of appointment). Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of research excellence is expected. The candidate should have the ability to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research in nutrition.
