Thank
you for your interest in the graduate program in Nutritional Biology at
the University of California, Davis. The
Graduate Group in Nutritional Biology includes faculty from numerous departments
and organized research units. This diversity means that we encourage students
with backgrounds in various disciplines to apply to our program. The program
is designed to provide fundamental knowledge of nutrition, and then allow
specialization in one or more of a variety of sub-disciplines that meet
your particular interests. Students at UC Davis work closely with their
academic adviser and with their major professor to design a challenging
and rewarding academic plan.
Several sources of financial support are available for graduate study at Davis: fellowships, graduate employment and financial aid. Teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and financial aid in the form of grants, loans and work-study are also available to qualified graduate students. Individual departments administer teaching assistant and training grant positions. You should contact the professors in the individual departments to apply for teaching or research assistantships.
If you are interested in a specific research area, I encourage you to directly contact the faculty member(s) carrying out research in that area or to visit the campus and meet them personally.
