Potato Study
UC Davis nutrition scientists are running a 15-week study to test whether diets that contain potatoes will be useful in weight loss or maintaining current body weight and how these diets affect your blood sugar.
We need: healthy men and women with BMI between 25 and 35 interested in losing weight who:
- Must not be on any medication that would interfere with the outcomes of the study
- May not have any known allergy or intolerance to potatoes
- May not be pregnant of planning a pregnancy
- Must not have diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerotic disease, inflammatory disease, or chronic lung, kidney, or liver disease
Study includes:
- DEXA and OGGT: body composition and blood sugar tests
- Weekly meetings with a dietitian
- Potatoes and guidance on how to incorporate them into the diet will be provided via dietitian
