Research Interests

Dr. Heneman’s current work focuses on youth evaluation regarding several aspects of nutrition and health. In collaboration with Dr. Sheri Zidenberg-Cherr and the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), she has demonstrated the positive impact nutrition education has on the habits of California youth. One of Dr. Heneman's goals is to help enhance and expand the outreach efforts of UCCE. Highlights of her work include the development of surveys for use by parents and children, co-authorship of the Eating Healthy from Farm to Fork kindergarten and second grade curriculum, and completion of a statewide evaluation of the Reading Across MyPyramid Curriculum. She also has served or is currently serving on several committees, including the National 5-A-Day partnership, the Society for Nutrition Education Advisory Committee for Public Policy, and the UCANR Farm to School Workgroup, to act as an advocate for improving child nutrition programs.
